Goodnight And the earth will
welcome me; her gates are flung
far wide and open. For she
awaits in hope to see
me say goodnight to dawn-
the night has punished me
well. I have served my
sentence with promises
to keep no more. As I
prepare to tuck into my
verdant bed, there is
quiet hope that nothing
will not come of nothing-these
laboured hands and hearts
should toil no more. As I walk
around her fences seven times
seven, I know she beckons.
And I will enter the vast
warm embrace of hers-
saying goodnight to dawn.
