unlitthe lights flourish at night. swirling along
the highways; street lamps around the
corner. but a switch has tripped in
the dark; ness that engulfs my heart.
in my mind's eye; a lonely light-
-bulb hangs from a sinew of my
palpitating organ; unlit; swaying
with a plangent; offbeat rhythm.
yet the lights on this road go
out; one-by-one-. the night
wants us blind; i swear. for
how else should i reach for
that circuit breaker; to get
the electricity going again?
